Develop your printmaking experience using a variety of techniques with our friendly printmaking group based in the Chatsworth Garden art studio – the Old Potting Shed.
These weekly sessions, run over six weeks, will be tailored to suit different experience levels, so are suitable for anyone, whether you're new to printmaking, have completed a printmaking course at Chatsworth or have previous experience in printmaking.
The course will cover a variety of techniques over the sessions, including observational drawing techniques, safe use of tools, mark making, transferring your design and printing techniques.
Activities will include:
Monoprints – Drawing from pot plants grown in the service glasshouse at Chatsworth and learning how ink responds to line and pressure.
Linocut prints – Carry out observational drawing and develop these in the studio to design and prepare your linocut. Create prints on different surfaces and explore collaged grounds to print on to.
Reduction lino printing – Learn the reduction lino technique to apply multiple colours to one print. Create a registration board, design your reduction print and start to create your limited-edition prints.
Texture and shape – Experimental printing with a range of textured surfaces and shapes. Using found objects, leaves and recycled materials, create a series of exciting abstract imagery.
Collagraph printing – Using drawings to design and create a new collagraph plate for printing and / or explore your favourite print techniques and develop a series of images to complete the course.
